Most Of Our Anger Is Sin

The Bible calls it foolish, cruel and outrageous. It can be expected of the wicked and defines them. It is for them a way of life. It should not be the defining characteristic of a Christian. We have all sinned against our Creator in far greater ways than others have sinned against us. We have not been as angry at our own offenses as the offenses of others. We usually find a way to stop being angry with ourselves for very long. We should NOT be more tolerant of our own offenses than we are of the offenses of others. Because of our sins we deserve Hell. Because God has been merciful to us, we ought to be merciful to others. God*s first desire toward our sin is to try to find a way to forgive it. Our first desire toward the sins of others should be to try to find a way to forgive it.

Proverbs 14:29: He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.

Proverbs 27:3-4: A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool*s wrath is heavier than them both. 4 Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy?

Proverbs 11:23: The desire of the righteous is only good: but the expectation of the wicked is wrath.

Matthew 6:15: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

When God forgives us, His anger does not fall upon us. When we forgive others our anger toward them should go away also. When God*s forgiveness happens to us it should become active in us. If Christ is dwelling in our hearts, we will be forgiving like He is forgiving. Being Godly, being like God will mean we are forgiving. If others have repented of their sin against us forgiving them is fairly easy. If they have not repented of it, forgiving them is more difficult. But our anger should dissipate in either case.

Ephesians 4:26: Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

If our anger lasts more than a day it is ALWAYS a sin against God. Prolonged anger against others may not affect them at all but it can destroy our own peace of mind and defile our consciences. Just like any other sin, it will come between God and us.

Isaiah 59:2: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
